About Me

My expertise is based on nearly 30 years of professional experience. Currently I am working as Senior Projectmanager / Researcher for the Dutch agency Platform31. As a member of the Social Inclusion and Livability team I work on projects that focus on a healthy living environment, where everyone can participate. Hereby, the promotion of equal opportunities is central. This requires a broad-based approach, with an eye and ear for the environment and interests of residents in the neighbourhood, city and region. In my projects I work on solutions for suitable housing, healthy living together, social services and participation. I am working together with municipalities, provinces and the state, and also with local initiatives and residents’ organizations.

I am available for talks, lectures, workshops, training and consultation on the following topics:

Community Development and Community Work (since 1997)

  • I have been working in local projects aimed at Roma communities in Central- en Eastern Europe and the Balkans
  • For gro-up buurtwerk I implemented Right to Cooperate in Rotterdam Prins Alexander and was leading a team of community builders (from June 2021 till December 2023)
  • I have been the manager of Community Center GC de Bosuil in Overijse (Jezus-Eik), Belgium (2019-2021)
  • At home in The Hague, Laakkwartier, I am actively involved in community building and local activities to improve our neighbourhood (since 2022).

Citizen’s Participation (since 1997)

  • Motivating citizens to participate in new developments in their neighbourhood
  • Consulting citizens before taking political decisions
  • Involving citizens in local development, facilitation of meetings

Training, training design, workshops and group facilitation, using participatory approaches (since 1998).

  • Managing long-term training programmes
  • Tailor-made training for NGO’s and companies
  • Training of grass-roots groups
  • On-line training using WebEx, Zoom, JitsiMeet, MS Teams

Facilitating Participatory Strategic Planning Workshops and providing advice on organizational development; stakeholder analysis.

  • Managing project on inclusion and liveability, suitable housing, healthy living together, social services and participation
  • Design and management of EU-financed projects
  • Financial management and fundraising

Social Work (since 1992)

  • In 24/7 crisis centers in The Netherlands
  • Training social workers and community workers within training projects for NGO’s
  • Since October 2021 I am working as policy-advisor for gro-up (www.gro-up.nl), a large not-for-profit organisation in the domains of kindergartens, child care, social work for youth, social work and community building. My work in mainly focused on social work in Rotterdam and community building.
